Fallout London is an absolutely astounding project. A whole new game built within Fallout 4, the massive RPG mod is not only a brilliant play, but it also scratches an itch that so many Fallout fans have had for years – what if we went to a wasteland outside of the United States? Today, Team FOLON has dropped two pieces of exciting news. The first is that the squad of modders are forming to become a proper registered company, and the second is that its DLC-sized mod is about to get DLC of its own.
What should have been a simple announcement of what’s to come in Fallout London’s 1.3 patch is actually a pretty significant moment for fans of the RPG. Team FOLON says that the update was initially meant to deliver a bunch of fixes and tweaks, but has “grown into something much bigger” that has the potential to alter save files. Instead of pushing it live as a single patch, it’s now going to hold the changes back for what will be Fallout London’s first piece of DLC.
“Given the scope of this update, we’re aware it may make changes that impact save files, so rather than risking breaking things for a small update, we’re looking to roll this into a part of our very first DLC!” Team FOLON says. “This DLC will feature both new content and previously cut content that we’re working hard to restore. Stay tuned for more details – big things are on the way!”
The team has also released a huge list of changes arriving in the update and you can certainly see why it’s getting rolled into a DLC instead. Already there are over 900 individual changes, ranging from bug fixes to new pieces of content such as weapons, NPCs, and even a Skyrim-themed helmet.
Confirmation of DLC isn’t the only exciting news. Earlier this year, Team FOLON said that following the enormous success of Fallout London it was looking to establish itself as a proper indie developer. Staying true to its word, it reveals today that “Team FOLON is now a registered business.”
“While Team FOLON will always continue to support Fallout: London, the time has come where we must look to the future… That’s where you come in! We’d love to hear your thoughts on what we’re doing right and what you want to see next.” If you’re a fan of Team FOLON’s work, it’s got a community feedback form that you can fill in to help it shape its future plans.
It’s great to hear that, despite its already generous size, Fallout London is going to be getting even bigger and that this super-talented team of modders is establishing itself as a proper studio.
While it’s undoubtedly the biggest and most immersive mod Fallout fans can get right now, there are still plenty of other incredible ones in our Fallout 4 mods guide. Alternatively, for more huge experiences, head on over to our best open world games guide.
